When to Recommend Difflam™
Oral medications
Difflam™ may be recommended for a wide range of inflammatory conditions of the throat and mouth: 1,2
- Difflam Oral Rinse (benzydamine hydrochloride)
0.15% w/v gargle

0.15% w/v Oromucosal Spray

The tables below provide a summary of the oral products in the Difflam™ range.
- Available from the pharmacy
- Children < 6 years old: 1 puff/4kg body weight, max 4 puffs, 1½-3 hourly.
- Children 6-12 years old: 4 puffs, 1½-3 hourly
- Adults and children > 12 years old: 4 to 8 puffs, 1½-3 hourly.
Uninterrupted treatment should not exceed 7 days unless under medical supervision
- Available from the pharmacy
- For adults and children >12 years old: Rinse or gargle with 15ml.
- Repeat dose every 1½ to 3 hours, as necessary. Uninterrupted treatment should not exceed 7 days unless under medical supervision.
Not suitable for children aged 12 years and under
