Q.What is Difflam™?
A.Difflam™ is a formulation for sore throat and mouth conditions, and is available as a choice of spray or gargle formulations.1,2 Difflam products are available over the counter at your local pharmacy.

Q.How does Difflam™ work?
A. All Difflam™ products contain the active ingredient benzydamine hydrochloride which acts locally to stop pain and inflammation. Difflam™ helps to provide symptom relief from pain by helping to soothe the soreness and discomfort that you experience from a sore throat. 1,2

Q.Is Difflam™ suitable for children?
A.Difflam™ Spray is suitable for children under 6 years.1* Difflam™ Oral Rinse is suitable for children over 12 years old.2

Q.Where can I buy Difflam™?
A.Difflam™ Spray and Difflam™ Oral Rinse are available over the counter in your local pharmacy.

Q.Can bacteria or viruses cause sore throats?
A.Most sore throats are caused by a virus. The viruses can cause tonsillitis, glandular fever and laryngitis. Sometimes bacteria cause sore throats. The bacterial infection Strep A causes strep throat and scarlet fever. These can give you a sore throat.
Your immune system may clear the strep throat. Your GP may prescribe an antibiotic for severe strep throat that is not responding to other treatment.3

Q.Can you exercise with a sore throat?
A.Exercise is usually OK if you have a minor sore throat. However it would be best to reduce the intensity and length of your workout - instead of going for a run, take a walk for example.
Always check with your healthcare professional if you aren't sure whether it's OK to exercise.4

Q.How important is it to stay hydrated with a sore throat?
A.Staying hydrated can help soothe a sore throat. Adults should drink plenty of cool or warm liquids but avoid hot drinks.
Children and babies should be encouraged to drink water, juice or milk or indeed give them an ice lolly to suck on.3

Q.Should I avoid any foods with a sore throat?
A.Avoid hot food and hot drinks.3

Q.Can I use Difflam™ after dental surgery?
A.Difflam Oral Rinse can be used after dental surgery. By rinsing with benzydamine after dental surgery it may reduce pain and inflammation and improve healing of the surgical site.2
